We had a small gathering this morning, and a rich time of hearing and discussing Joyce’s teaching on the Good Shepherd who calls us softly and tenderly to come home.  Joyce’s lesson is posted on the website.  You can click this link to listen to it:  http://podcasts.lbwbs.com/Podcasts/2020-03-10%20Softly%20and%20Tenderly.mp3

Homework for this week:

1. Listen to the hymn “Faith of Our Fathers” as often as you can each day until you find yourself humming the tune and perhaps singing to yourself as you go through your day.  I liked this version:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSHzrlGoelQ
Feel free to find one that you enjoy.

2. Read Psalm 107 as often as you can throughout the week. Here’s a link to Psalm 107 in the King James Version of the Bible:  https://www.bible.com/bible/1/PSA.107.KJV After you have clicked on the link and read that version, you can click on the letters “KJV” toward the top of the page, and a long list of different versions and translations will appear. Just click the one you want to read next.

3. Consider these questions about the hymn and also about the Psalm.
What is the theme?
What feelings does it evoke in you?
What words or phrases got your attention?
What does it tell you about the character of God?

Optional:  Complete Puzzles Nos. 8 and 9 in the pink Word Search Bible Puzzle book as a way of reviewing and reinforcing your awareness of the words and message in the hymn and the Psalm.

My prayer this week is that you will find yourself in close communion with the Holy Spirit.  Please keep me in your prayers as I prepare to teach next week’s lesson.

Susan
